In my 20+ year’s of career, I have not seen weaver’s
being treated so fairly and respectfully. Shramdaan is a new hope of change in
the right direction by bringing back dignity to artisans, farmers and laborers
in this declining sector.
Initially,
I could not believe that the fabric I was holding was made by a youngster who
went through just month and a half training in Kundalpur and further that they
had no legacy of handloom work. This is new leash of hope for rural folks who
are just dependent on agriculture and dwindling labour jobs.
I had the privilege of visiting the Hathkargha Center at Dongargarh in
December 2017. Acharya Shree’s vision of uplifting the poor through an
eco-system at the grassroots level is absolutely wonderful and a thrilling
experience to watch take shape in person. The budding artisans, mostly tribal
from neighboring villages, were getting trained at the center. The quality of
clothing being produced and the intricate designs left me awestruck.
In my opinion, handloom is not an industry, it is a philosophy of life. It’s a great fortune that Bhartiya people are getting fair employment opportunities in Satvik manner by following the Guru's orders. It’s like a golden urn on the temple of life.
