Craft Description:
The name of the most ancient and popular art of Bhartiya culture is Kantha. Bhartiya housewives have been using this art since ancient times. Our mothers used to make small beautiful mattresses, quilts, etc. for their children by joining old sarees. Sleeping on that cloth feels as if one is sleeping on the mother's lap.
Efforts to revive the feel have been made by Shramdaan artists to beautify the cotton textiles. Just as a mother decorates a house with her small efforts, similarly we have decorated your clothes with needle and thread.
Shramdaan's Hastshilp Cluster for Women Artists:
📍There is a handicraft center for women located in Deori near Shramdaan's Beena Barah cluster. About 70 women are earning respectable livelihood support while working on hand-embroidered products such as Sarees, Kurtis, etc.
📍These women have been stitching their own garments and decorating them with embroideries for centuries and have mastered the skills of color and composition.
📍These women come to the center around 11 a.m. after completing their household work in the morning and go back home after working till 5 p.m. Thus, while managing the house, they also earn a respectable income for their family.
